The Teen Commandments Hits 1m Downloads
The Teen Commandments hits 1m downloads since its launch in February and has quick become a cult favourite with fans saying it's the first podcast they've ever listened to and the only one that makes them laugh out loud (even on their commute to work).
A Sara Cox production, this independent podcast hosted by much-loved broadcasting legend Sara Cox and her best friend of 30 years, hairdresser Clare Hamilton, is the new survival guide for all parents trying to get through the often mind-boggling behaviour of modern day teens. Having survived their chaotic teenage years together, Sara and Clare are back in the trenches with five kids between them and as they navigate their own kids' antics, they're also haunted by the echoes of their own 'idiotic' teenage behaviour, watching history repeat itself in real time.
With Sara’s trademark wit and warmth, and Clare’s no-nonsense honesty, The Teen Commandments is a podcast for parents, former teens, and anyone who’s ever faced the ultimate test: raising a teenager. Even your teens are welcome and encouraged to step into the world of The Teen Commandments. This is your weekly dose of laughter amid the mood swings and cryptic one-word replies.
Sara Cox says, "When we started this pod in the shed of the bottom of my garden we had no idea just how much we were about to tap into something special but our growing army of listeners have welcomed me & Clare into their lives as we all try to make sense of the madness of the teen years.
I’m so proud of my bezzie, representing the hard working single mums out there. Every episode she’s been an incredible combination of hilarious, honest & vulnerable. I can’t wait to see where we take the podcast next."
Clare Hamilton says, "Teen Commandments is so much fun to do. I love connecting with our listeners — it honestly feels like we’re all in it together (with loads of lols along the way). I’m learning loads from Sara, yet belly laughing the whole time — the dream combo. And the best part is, we’ve only just begun."
From 'bringing back fingering', procrasti-wanking and setting hotel rooms on fire in South Korea, to a listener finding Pamela Anderson's missing son, The Teen Commandments is hysterical, calamitous and at times ridiculous, but hey… isn't that just being a teenager?!
Described by fans as, "hilarious, warm and loads of nostalgia from the 90s," you "can hear their genuine friendship radiating through." Around the launch, The Telegraph wrote, "the duo have the undeniable chemistry of lifelong friends." Since the podcast began earlier this year, Sara and Clare have already sold out their Dayfever event at Crossed Wires and gathered the biggest Library Tent crowd at Camp Bestival this year. They were even selected as one of Apple's Best Podcasts of the Year! But this is just the beginning…
