Today, the hit basketball podcast The Old Man and The Three returns with new host and current NBA player Cameron “Cam” Johnson, the forward for the Denver Nuggets, who joins Tommy Alter.
Every Tuesday, Cam and Tommy will continue to provide insightful analysis of NBA games and major topics within NBA culture. They’ll dive into the mechanics of the sport, discussing skills, strategy, and execution from an active player’s perspective, to give basketball fans a deeper understanding of the game, while keeping it accessible for casual fans as well as “NBA sickos.”
Featured guests for the new season include teammates, opponents, former players, members of the NBA media, and other prominent athletes and cultural figures including Cam’s teammate and Denver Nuggets superstar forward, Aaron Gordon who will join Cam and Tommy for the premiere episode. As a first-time host, The Old Man and The Three is a new forum for Cam to engage with his fans and basketball lovers beyond the court, bringing his inside-the-locker-room point of view to the forefront.
Cam said, “Joining The Old Man and the Three as its new host is a huge honor. JJ, Tommy, and the entire team set the bar high. JJ’s perspective, curiosity, and the respect he earned across the league made this show what it is. To follow in those footsteps and bring my own voice to the table every Tuesday this season means a lot. I can’t wait to get started!”
In addition to the launch of the new The Old Man and The Three on Tuesdays, basketball fans can still tune into the weekly video podcast The Young Man and The Three with Tommy Alter every Thursday. The Young Man and The Three is a space where NBA players and culturally prominent NBA superfans can come together to let their guards down and talk hoops in a non-traditional setting. In each episode, the NBA’s rising stars are paired with everyone from retired hall-of-famers to musicians, actors, comedians and even scientists, showcasing different sides of their personalities as they talk about sports, culture, and more. Previous guests include actor, director and Knicks superfan, Ben Stiller; writer, director, actor, comedian and Sacramento Kings superfan Hasan Minhaj; WNBA legend Sue Bird; and more.

The Young Man and The Three
This is not your typical NBA player podcast. The Young Man and The Three is an exciting show that explores the depths of the NBA’s brightest young personalities by setting up unique pairings with active and retired NBA players, actors, musicians, media, scientists… you name it. Examples include Tyrese Haliburton and Barack Obama, Austin Reaves and Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jalen Williams and Alex Caruso, Trey Murphy and Stavvy, Duncan Robinson and Ryen Russillo, just to state a few. We’ll also roll out special episodes around key moments throughout the NBA calendar, like All-Star, Draft, and Christmas Day Games. This podcast allows players to show a different side of themselves, something that fans don’t usually get to tap into; and for notable fans of the game to ask NBA players things they’ve always wanted to. Consider The Young Man and The Three the SPOT where NBA personalities and culture blend to become the most unique platform in all of sports.
