Audioboom Engages Investment Bank for Third Strategic Review Exploring Sale, Merger Options Amid Industry Consolidation
Audioboom confirmed engagement of London-based investment bank J Goodwin & Co to manage strategic review process including potential sale, with board stating no takeover offers or merger proposals received to date though discussions with podcast companies and strategic partners are ongoing. The company’s shows generate more than 125 million monthly downloads reaching 40 million unique listeners worldwide, with Triton Digital ranking Audioboom as fourth largest U.S. podcast publisher in August 2025. CEO Stuart Last stated in July that three-quarters of podcast revenue in U.S. and UK markets is distributed across more than 100 small independent networks, positioning industry for consolidation following company’s $13.5 million acquisition of UK-based network Adelicious. This represents Audioboom’s third attempt to explore strategic options after similar efforts in 2020 and 2021 yielded no results, with company reporting second quarter revenue of $17.8 million, gross profit increase of 35 percent to $4 million, and projections of $83.2 million in 2025 revenue. Last has expressed frustration with perceived undervaluation by UK investors, delaying plans to relocate to U.S. stock exchange after experts indicated company needs $100 million annual revenue and $8 to $10 million earnings before such move would attract sophisticated American investors. Audioboom stock jumped 16 percent Friday when rumors surfaced before declining 8 percent during Monday London trading, with board urging shareholders to take no action at this time as review examining options from joint ventures and acquisitions to spinning off business segments and management changes.
