Mystery AI Hype Theater 3000 (MAIHT3K) is a podcast supported by the non-profit Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR). Alex Hanna and Emily M. Bender, two social scientists who focus on tech, dissect examples of overhyped claims about large language models and other so-called AI (we have some beef with how that term is used) in a fun, but also incisive manner – the motto is "ridicule as praxis". Episodes focus on the harms both of these technologies, and of the hype itself.
The setup: We record video and audio in Riverside, but podcast recordings are also streamed live on Twitch, allowing our hosts to interact live with viewers. Currently we use OBS to make this happen, as OBS allows us some extra functionality, but have occasionally used Riverside's streaming capability directly. We put episode videos on Peertube (a Fediverse alternative to YouTube), and use Buzzsprout to release the podcast.
Producer duties:
- Produce and record episodes
- Support remote guests and hosts in achieving optimal sound quality
- Monitor Twitch chat during recording, share links to media that hosts are discussing
- Lightly edit episode video and post to Peertube
- Transcribe audio for both subtitles and transcript – correct machine transcription.
- Lightly edit and master episode audio and release via Buzzsprout
- Write episode show notes and intro/outro scripts
- Support archiving of episodes as they're created
- Create a 1-minute audiogram or shortform video to promote latest episode on social media
Required qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in audio production, including remote recording workflows, script writing, recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.
- Proficiency in Adobe Audition or similar professional audio software.
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating as part of a team.
- Familiarity with podcast hosting platforms and metadata requirements.
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in audio production and podcasting.
- Comfort with basic video editing in iMovie or similar
- Familiarity with Twitch and OBS, or other live streaming workflows.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledgeable about generative AI and the many controversies around its use, including environmental, educational, healthcare, and human rights contexts.
- Excellent writing skills: we get high tech at times, but lean on conversational, fun script and show notes to help guide our audience through the material we cover.
- Demonstrated familiarity with Mystery AI Hype Theater.
Pay and working conditions: This is a part-time, contract position, paid hourly at $40/hr for up to 10 hours a week. Work is fully remote. DAIR has a limited ability to support purchase of software licenses if needed to complete any of the above tasks.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

This is not an entry level position. It is a senior leadership and editorial position.

This role will start as a full-time temporary role, forecasted to last six months at 32-40 hours per week, though this position may become permanent full time. This position is benefits eligible.

The Senior Producer is a key role on a small team at Magnificent Noise who together produce iconic podcasts designed to be innovative and reach large audiences. The role requires a creative and inclusive approach to storytelling–someone who can shape the vision and execution of ambitious podcast projects. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Hold a leadership role on the podcast.
Lead editorial planning of podcast, including outlining program elements, and selection/booking of contributors and guests.
Responsible for setting production timelines and running a team that delivers projects on time and on budget.
Lead the project team to produce and edit interviews and segments.
Talent management: Coach host and other on-air contributors who are new to podcasting to get the most out of their interview and performance.
Partner relationship: Work side-by-side with production clients, not treating them as customers to be managed, but deep collaborators and trusted partners.
Mentor colleagues with grace and a generosity of spirit.
Collaborate with other producers and editors at Magnificent Noise and our creative partners to ensure the depth and breadth of Magnificent Noise’s production and storytelling aesthetics and standards.
“Think deep” and produce work that needs to exist in the world.
Oversee the booking of contributors, guests, and interviews, as well as managing recording logistics, remote studio recordings, and location management.
Record interviews and ambience at on-location recordings and train staff on recording equipment, proper microphone selection and selection and placement, and how to get “great tape.”
Edit segments and can edit and manipulate digital audio lay-ups.
Coordinate all aspects of production, post-production, and program distribution.
Other duties as assigned.

LOCATION

The successful candidate for this position must reside in the greater New York area working a hybrid combination of at home, in our Manhattan office, and on-site at with our production partner.

Requirements

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

At least 5-7+ years of radio/audio production and thorough knowledge of writing and audio production
Management experience, especially management of creative people doing creative work.
Deep interest and knowledge in a wide range of subject areas.
Knowledge of podcasting and digital audio industry.
Must have a strong understanding of how to operate audio hardware, software, and facilities.
Demonstrated writing ability.
Demonstrated digital editing expertise using ProTools audio editing software.

The role will act as the editorial lead for one or more social media accounts within BBC Studios Audio, delivering a coherent, consistent social media experience for audiences, ensuring each account delivers on the agreed social strategy, maximises engaged reach with the account's target audiences, delivers content of the highest creative quality, delivers commercial objectives for sponsors and advertisers and drives traffic around the BBC Studios Audio commercial portfolio.

This is key commercial role in the central Audio team, working with production teams who deliver a breadth of outstanding content, from impactful investigative serials such as To Catch A Scorpion and Things Fell Apart; long running prestige Radio 4 series such as Desert Island Discs and In Our Time; and an extensive slate of award-winning Comedy and Drama output. The Audio Unit has a mission to create and deliver compelling, premium audio to a wide-ranging global audience.

THE ROLE

Work with audio production teams to develop ideas, produce, film and edit long- and short-form video content around select podcasts, working closely with ad sales, marketing, media planning and distribution teams.

Produce creative responses to internal and external briefs (including advertiser briefs) and lead this work from end-to-end ensuring collaborative relationships between multiple stakeholders.

Produce longform visual episodes of podcasts and digital video assets that can be used across social media platforms, using relevant audio/video hardware, native social platform tools and relevant multimedia software.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Tribeca Festival communications team is looking for an extremely organized, hardworking individual with strong interests in entertainment publicity—including film, TV, podcasts, music, and more—for the 2025 Tribeca Festival. Previous experience working in film PR or festivals is preferred but not required. Must be able to work in the US and on-site in New York City, including extended hours during the Festival.

ABOUT YOU

The PR Materials Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring key press materials and assets are distributed in a timely manner, the press database is updated, and credential applications are effectively processed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with the Festival communications team and PR agencies to support all material needs
Work across departments to receive and share press materials (stills, trailers, background materials, etc.) for all Festival categories
Track and catalog press assets for programming announcements and media moments
Organize and maintain the press and publicity databases
Track press credential applications and respond to requests
Oversee media check-in for press & industry screenings during the Festival
Facilitate press credential pick-up

SKILLS + REQUIREMENTS

2-3 years minimum entertainment PR experience
Festival experience preferred, but not required
Experience in talent relations, festival relations, working with creators
Strong proficiencies in Outlook, Excel, Word, Google Drive, Slack, and similar is a must
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and departments both internal and external
Willing to work both remote and onsite during the festival

SALARY: $800/$900, weekly
This position is seasonal, running from May through June

About Us

Thee Quaker Project is a Quaker online media startup led by award-winning Quaker media creator Jon Watts.

Quakerism is a small denomination spanning the globe, with a wide theological spectrum and a rich history of activism led by our values of peace, equality, integrity and simplicity.

Responsibilities

This staff position is in charge of podcast production from conception to publishing. Each of the tasks below is either directly completed by the podcast producer or else coordinated (overseen) to completion.

Content Development

Develop the look and feel of the show
Guide the staff content brainstorms
Decide on the season themes and episode topics

Podcast Distribution and Promotion

Design episode thumbnails, write copy, upload to simplecast and wordpress

Audience Building & Strategy

Analyze data and listenership to maximize audience growth and reach
Work with our social media coordinator to develop social media strategy

Program Income

Implementing strategy for generating support from listeners
Selling & producing ads and sponsored episodes

Qualifications

3-5 years experience producing, editing, and distributing long-form podcast or broadcast episodes, narrative audio, and/or multimedia digital news content
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
Working knowledge of operating audio equipment
Familiarity with best practices on all social media platforms
Ability to work under deadline pressure
Experience with content management/online publishing systems
Strong organizational skills and solid work ethic
Ability to take feedback well and provide self-direction
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Adobe Audition or comparable non-linear digital audio editing software
Proficiency in Wordpress
Proficiency in SEO and other tools for online marketing and audience building

Passion for audio storytelling, conducting interviews, and exploring spiritual journeys
Passion for issues that affect religious communities
Some familiarity with the Quaker religion; an insatiable curiosity to learn more

Salary & Benefits

$50-60k/yr based on experience
Health Savings Account contribution of $500/mo for all employees
30 days PTO/yr

Video Editor Job Description

You’ll edit a variety of videos for Podcast Marketing Academy. The goal is to become the best place on the internet to learn advanced podcast marketing, growth, and conversion strategy in unreasonably specific, nerdy detail and a core part of our approach is engaging, beautiful, video-first content.

Podcast Marketing Academy is the antidote to generic, surface-level, candy-coated marketing advice. It recognizes the fact that marketing anything is a complex, difficult, time-intensive puzzle and that podcasts specifically are the hardest content platform to grow.

Our purpose is to help smart, serious podcasters, founders, brands, marketers, and podcast support professionals face this challenge head-on by equipping them with an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of what it takes to design a podcast marketing system that attracts and retains listeners and systematically converts them into clients and customers. In an industry that is quick to tell podcasters how easy it is to start and grow a show, we’re for the savvy, experienced creators who already know how hard podcasting is and relish the challenge of doing it anyway.

We’re looking for a video editor who’s obsessed with YouTube. They don’t just watch videos, they analyze them. They spend their downtime compulsively thinking about video ideas, packaging, production, editing, and the algorithm — and have strong opinions on these things. They yearn to become a true master of the craft and are already on the path to becoming one.

A passion for video isn’t enough though. AI is changing the way video is being created from idea generation to post-production, from Hollywood to bedroom YouTubers. The right person for this role is already using AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT as well as a variety of video-specific AI tools and is obsessed with their potential.

Finally, in addition to YouTube, this person is intimately familiar with podcasting. They are an active consumer of both audio and video-first podcasts and have strong opinions about what makes podcasts work on video.

Video editing & production is your art. It’s all you want to do and you’re constantly studying and experimenting to improve the quality, efficiency, and craft of your work.
You’re obsessed with both YouTube and podcasting.
You’re a voracious content consumer, specifically video content on YouTube.
You understand and obsess over the platform dynamics of YouTube and the strategy required to do YouTube well.
You can explain what makes one video’s, thumbnail, title, and content work on YouTube and why another’s doesn’t.
You have strong (perhaps even controversial) opinions on what makes for great video content, specifically great video podcasts, and can articulate them clearly & compellingly.
You’re eager to contribute to the growth of the channel and the business as a whole from both an editing and larger video/channel strategy perspective.
You have strong instincts for content editing and are particularly skilled in editing for flow, pacing, narrative structure, and tension.
